What's your frequency?

‘We have now discovered that there is no such thing as matter, it is all just different rates of vibration designed by an unseen intelligence’ – Max Planck, Quantum Physicist, Nobel Prize Winner 1918

Everything is energy – the planet, your garden, your furniture, your body, even your emotions.  It’s physics!

Instinctively, on both a primal and intuitive level, we can sense the energy and any changes in it.  We can feel when something resonates with us and when it doesn’t.  We use phrases like ‘this place has AMAZING energy’, ‘that guy has a bad vibe’.  We’ve all gone somewhere and immediately felt a shift in energy – a place can feel ‘buzzing’ (like a party or gig) or maybe ‘heavy’ (a building with weird energy, a funeral etc), and we’ve all probably walked past someone and just got that uneasy feeling when they gave you the creeps.  Yet we rarely ever stop to question what is going on or why we’re feeling that way.

There is a misconception out there that we are our conscious beings in a body which stops at our skin. Did you know that our bodies naturally conduct electricity? Every organ and cell in the human body has its own electromagnetic field, vibrating on a different frequency. A healthy cell will operate at a specific optimum frequency/charge, whereas in a sick cell (for example, a cancer cell) the frequency/charge will drop. When the frequency/charge is low the cells can’t function properly which can lead to disease etc.

The way we live our lives, including our thoughts and emotions, has a significant impact on our frequency/vibration level. If you look at the graphic below you will see there is a spiral/scale of vibration levels and the thoughts and emotions we have can increase or reduce our vibration level.

As you would imagine, we feel better when we are in the high vibration (positive emotional) state - like feeling peace, joy, love and gratitude. When we are in this state we tend to feel healthy, strong, happy.

On the flip side, when we're dealing with the low vibration state (emotions like guilt, shame, fear etc) we will feel low, depressed, moody, and probably physically ill too. Our cells are not vibrating at their optimum frequency, and we will feel out of balance.

If you continually feel tired or depressed/down, or have illness that can’t be explained, or frequently getting ill, the chances are you are in a low vibration state.

So there is a direct correlation between thoughts/emotions/experiences and the effects on our health - physically, mentally and emotionally.

These vibrational frequencies work on a spiral and we will always have days when we’re higher or lower.  We’re never going to be 100% high vibration every day forever more – there would be no growth in that.

There are lots of ways to tune in to our vibration level.  You can check how you physically feel – are you feeling vibrant, healthy, strong or are you feeling ill, sick, low?  You can also look at how you are feeling mentally and emotionally and how you react in your day-to-day life.

If you have a low vibration …

  • You may feel “stuck” or stranded in life, not knowing what to do next.

  • You may feel/be angry, complain a lot, focus on the negatives, or react poorly to things.

  • You struggle with fatigue and feel tired most of the time.

  • You often struggle with depression/anxiety/stress.  You may struggle to see the positives and good in life

  • You find it almost impossible to get “unstuck” from old habits.

  • You feel physically unfit and unhealthy – you may have chronic illness, or one thing after another.

  • You feel like life is happening ‘to you’ and adopt a victim mindset (e.g. why can nothing go right for me, why am I always getting ill, why can’t I catch a break)

  • You self-sabotage – this could be with your diet (turning towards processed/junk food), exercising, other bad habits.

  • You struggle to feel gratitude for things in your life

If you have high vibration…

  • You feel strong, balanced and healthy, both physically and emotionally and you take steps to look after yourself better

  • You are highly creative and are often bursting with ideas and inspiration.

  • You are grateful for what you have in your life and feel light-hearted, fun and happy

  • You do not “need” anything to feel happy.  You tend not to need material things and like to declutter

  • You are in-tune with your body and its needs.

  • You often experience synchronicity and are highly intuitive.

  • You forgive yourself and other people easily.

  • You don’t feel the need to explain yourself or to argue or compete with others

  • You are open to many different types of people, ideas, beliefs and experiences in life.

  • You feel confident in yourself and your abilities.

If you are stuck in the low vibration end of the spiral, there are lots of things you can do to increase your vibration (you can search this topic online).  However, some easy ways to start are:

  • Practising gratitude.  This is a high vibration emotion.  Every morning or evening write down or think of 5 things you are grateful for – this could be anything at all and not just the obvious things.  For example, I love a shower and everyday I am grateful for indoor plumbing, electricity and having a shower to boost my energy and clean me.  This may sound silly, however, there are a lot of people still in the world don’t have such a luxury.  We take so many things for granted

  • Eat healthier, whole foods and ditch the processed/junk food and also stay hydrated

  • Try to stay away from pointless mind chatter.  There is nothing to be gained from going over things that have already happened and cannot be changed.  Likewise there is no point worrying about things that have not yet happened and may not happen at all.  Try to stay in the present moment, focussing your attention on whatever you are doing.  We spend so much time doing a task, while thinking about something else, and we overwhelm our minds

  • Declutter your home – one drawer, cupboard, room at a time – especially things that are broken, make you sad, clothes that no longer fit etc.  This frees up energy in your home, saves you time from cleaning so much stuff etc

  • Move your body – go for a walk (in nature preferably) and use your senses to notice what’s around you – what can you see, smell, hear etc.

  • Avoid/limit spending time with people who make you feel stressed, sad, inadequate etc.  Spend more time with people who inspire and energise you, who make you laugh and do fun things

  • Laugh – watch a comedy show/movie, watch funny videos on youtube, just let yourself go and laugh and have fun

Start tuning into how you are feeling, and if you are low vibration, then work on increasing your vibration.  You’ll notice a shift, and the more you tune in and increase your frequency the easier it will become.
